In Everest Base Camp Trek, you do not have to cross a high pass, and the highest altitude that you ascend is Kala Patthar, which is 5550 m, but in Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lake, you have to cross the pass of 5367 m, and its name is Cho La Pass. Some of the highlights of this trek when you are in Gokyo Valley are Gokyo lakes and Ngozumpa glacier. The valley is beautiful and is dotted with lakes and beautiful views that you do not see in other parts of the Everest Region.

As you reach the Everest Region, meaning as you are out of Gokyo Valley, you will have new highlights, and they are Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, the highest viewpoint that you can reach as a trekker. When it comes to knowing the culture of Sherpa, this is one of the best treks to do as it takes you to their towns where you will know about their lifestyles. Another highlight is the Buddhist monastery, and there, you will see a lot of monasteries. The highlight that comes on the top of the list is the view of the mountain which is stunning and breathtaking.

Since you are in the Everest Region, the cold wind always blows, and you can feel it in both your heart and mind and as you see Gokyo Lake and reach Everest Base Camp, you may call them the ultimate destinations that you have seen in your life. Each of these looks incomparable, and as you stand near Mount Everest, your happiness knows no bound. Besides the mountain, there is another highlight that will take your breath away, and its name is the Khumbu Icefall.
