Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport at your best time; we love to wait for you. Don’t worry if you are going to arrive there at night; we will come to pick you up. You will be greeted by our representatives and taken to a hotel. There are no activities today; you can relax at your hotel. Thamel is open till midnight; this is the place where your hotel is located. You will find it lively.
Today, you will visit three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and these are Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. The first one is a Hindu Temple, the second is a Buddhist Stupa, and the last one is a palace as well as a museum. After the tour, you will head to your hotel. Private transportation will be provided as well as a city guide.
You take an early bus to Jiri. Jiri is the starting point of the trek. Had we taken a flight, then you would have started your trek from Lukla. Since you are interested in following the footsteps of Hillary and Tenzing, you are going to Jiri by bus. It is a pretty long hour journey; you will be in the countryside most of the time, today. Jiri is a hill station, and you can also call it a hill station.
Let us call this trek adventurous because Everest is the highest mountain in the world. Its trekking trail takes you to villages, and you will see the beautiful scenery. The trail also takes you to the top of the hill, and you will pass through several agricultural lands. The villagers that you come across are friendly. Giving the gesture of smile, you head to Bhandar, a small village.
The trekking trail goes downhill to the Likhu Khola, a river and takes you to an altitude of 1000 m plus, and it also goes along with a place called Kenja. There is a pass ahead, and it is called Lamjura Pass. As you head to this pass, you have to walk on a steep trail in the beginning; on the way, you will come across an abandoned monastery.
Today also, you are going to cross the pass, and the name of this pass is Lamjura La Pass at an altitude of 3530 m. Sometimes, it is covered with snow, and sometimes with blossomed rhododendron flowers. On the way, you will have lunch. Before reaching Junbesi, you will have to descend to Tragdobuk.
Today, you will see the first view of Mount Everest; you will see this from the top of the ridge. By trekking further, you will reach Salung; you will also see Mount Everest again. On the way, you come across airstrip and hospital. There is also a bazaar. The main villages that you pass through are Salleri and Salung, and you follow a descending trekking trail to reach the Ringmo Khola, a river as well as you reach a monastery before Nuntala.
Today, you will follow the trekking trail that goes downhill that takes you to the Dudh Kosi River. Ahead lies an uphill trekking trail, which will take you to several villages, terraced fields, forests, and Khari Khola, a river. Dudh Kosi, a river, is as white as milk.
Today, you start your trek by following an uphill trekking trail and reach several villages. In these villages, you will see lots of Sherpa people. On the way to these villages, you will pass through the forest where you see lots of monkeys. Before reaching Puiyan, you have to walk on a narrow canyon.
Walk uphill; you will be doing this right from Puiyan, and then you will reach a ridge. Although you will be walking uphill, yet you can climb gradually. From the top of the ridge, you will descend to Surke. From Surke, another downhill trekking trail takes you to Phakding.
You will trek by the Dudh Kosi River, and this is one of the Kosis, actually, there are seven Kosi Rivers; two of them are Tama Kosi and Soon Kosi. As you are trekking, you are also in the region where there are natural beauties, such as hills and mountains. There are suspension bridges to be crossed, and one of the famous bridges is the Hillary Suspension Bridge. You will be trekking in Sagarmatha National Park where there are check-post and dense forests. You will see Mount Everest, and you will reach Namche Bazaar, the largest Sherpa village of Nepal.
Today, you have to acclimatize because tomorrow, you are ascending to a higher altitude. Acclimatization means exploring Namche and its surrounding places, not staying in a hotel room. Hike to Hillary School, also hike to Khunde and Khumjung. Visit the museum to know the culture and traditions of the Sherpa people, including their lifestyles. Visit Syangboche airport and hike up to Everest View Hotel to see Mount Everest.
The trekking trail goes uphill, it is a steep uphill and takes you to Kyangjuma and valley. There is a forest on the way where you see rhododendron plants and juniper trees. During the springtime; the forest becomes colorful with flowers. You will also come across summer settlements because during summer Sherpas bring their yaks to these high pastures for grazing. The view of Khumbila and Tawache is incredible.
The steep trekking trail takes you to Lambara (4220m) and Luza (4360m) as well as juniper trees. You will come across Kharkas, which is a flat spot and has water. You will reach the valley, river, and Machhermo (4410m). In Machhermo, in 1974, Yeti killed three yaks and attacked a Sherpa woman.
You will walk on a ridge and see an excellent view of the valley, Kantega, and Cho-Oyu (8201m). The trekking trail takes you to Pangka (4390m), and then you descend to the riverbank before climbing the terminal moraine of Ngozumpa Glacier. This is the steepest part of the trekking trail, and you reach the first small Lake (4650m), where you see Brainy ducks.
Today is the most exciting day of the trek because you are climbing to Gokyo-Ri, the most famous viewpoint of the Everest Region for to see the panoramic view of the Himalayas, including Everest, and it takes approximately 2 hrs to reach the viewpoint. Other mountains that you see are Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse, and Tawache.
Today, you will trek through Ngazumpa Glacier, which means, you are almost close to the mountain. You will also be walking by the mountain, and the winding trekking trail takes you to Dragnag. Today, it is a short trek, so you will reach there in the afternoon, and have a lot of time to rest.
Today, you are going to face one of the toughest days of the trek because you are going to cross the Cho La pass. The pass is steep, and you have to walk through the glacier as well as crevasses before you reach Dzongla. The trekking trail is slippery as well as rocky. From the top of the pass, you can see Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Lobuche East, and Baruntse.
Follow the trekking trail that takes you downhill. The trekking trail takes you to a grassy area as well, and you will see the incredible view of Lobuche. The trekking trail winds in so many places and you also reach the river and finally to Lobuche. Spend the rest of your time in Lobuche by taking rest.
Today, you are heading the final destination, that is, Everest Base Camp. Walk on the lateral moraine of Khumbu Glacier. When you reach Gorakshep, you will be surrounded by mountains from all sides. As you head to the Everest Base Camp, you will again come across the burial site of the armies who had lost their lives while ascending Mount Everest Khumbu Glacier that you see is the world’s deepest glacier. Take the photos as much as you want, and you will be satisfied.
Today is one the greatest day of your trekking because you will be heading to Kalapathar early morning. You start before the dawn and see the view of the sunrise in the mountains like Everest and Makalu. In addition to Goyo Ri, Kalapathar is one of the best viewpoints of the Everest Region. From there, you head to Gorakshep for breakfast, and then you trek to Pheriche.
You trek to Ghat and stop for lunch. Today, you will be most of the time by the Dudh Kosi River. On the way, you will reach several villages like Chumoa, Benkar, Phakding, and Chuthawa. On the way, you will come across the Pasang Lhamu Memorial Gate. Today’s trekking trail is easy, but the last part of the trekking trail goes uphill. A good experience to reach Lukla, don’t you think so?
You will fly to Kathmandu on an early morning flight after breakfast. After arriving in Kathmandu, you will head to your hotel.
